The Short Version
Arcana is designed with privacy at its core. Your journal entries, readings, and personal reflections
stay on your device by default. We collect only what's necessary to make the app work, and we never
sell your data. There are no ads, no trackers, no data brokers.
Information We Collect
Data stored on your device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless
you choose to create an account and enable cloud sync:
- Journal entries and personal reflections
- Reading history (cards drawn, spreads used, intentions set)
- Daily card draw history
- App preferences and settings
- Learning progress through modules
Data we process
When you use Arcana, we may process the following:
- Anonymous identifier — a random ID used to manage your session. This is not linked to your name or email unless you create an account.
- Purchase information — if you subscribe to Arcana Premium, your subscription status is managed through RevenueCat and Apple. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but never see your payment details.
- Basic usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated data about which features are used (e.g. how many readings are performed, which spreads are popular). This helps us improve the app. No personal content is included.
- Crash reports — anonymous diagnostic data if the app crashes, to help us fix bugs.
Account data (optional)
If you choose to create an account (via Sign in with Apple or email), we store your email address
and use it solely for account management and important service communications. We never send
marketing emails without your explicit consent.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and maintain the app's functionality
- To manage your subscription through RevenueCat and Apple
- To sync your data across devices if you opt in
- To improve the app based on anonymous usage patterns

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information
with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
Third-Party Services
Arcana uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase — backend infrastructure for optional account management and cloud sync. Data is stored securely with row-level security policies. Supabase Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — subscription management. Processes purchase receipts to verify subscription status. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Apple (App Store) — processes payments for subscriptions. Arcana never receives your credit card or payment details. Apple Privacy Policy
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Local data is stored using your device's
built-in secure storage. Data transmitted to our servers uses industry-standard TLS encryption.
Optional account authentication is handled through Sign in with Apple or secure email verification.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — you can export your journal and reading data from within the app at any time
- Delete your data — you can delete your account and all associated data from the app settings. Local data can be removed by uninstalling the app.
- Opt out of analytics — you can disable anonymous usage analytics in the app settings
- Use the app without an account — core features work fully offline without creating an account
